Outpatient pediatric rehabilitation at SF Kids Speech includes speech therapy for infants, toddlers and school age children. Services may include an evaluation, direct intervention, specialized groups and consultations. My practice serves children on a long-term basis as well as assisting in the transition to appropriate agencies and resources as needed. Services are offered in a therapeutic and supportive environment. They are family centered because I believe that everyone’s role is important. My goal is to give the children that I work with the opportunity to fulfill their greatest potential. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish. Therapy for children with Feeding Disorders consists of concentration and management of the following: failure to consume enough nutrients to promote growth; abnormal suck and swallow patterns due to genetic or metabolic disorders; abnormal eating problems; disruptive mealtime behavior; diagnosis of aspiration; tube feeding management; oral motor dysfunction (dysfunctional swallow, dysphagia); food refusal; failure to thrive and gastrointestinal disorders. The child has a comprehensive team that assesses all aspects of feeding disorders. The team consists of pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric nursing, behavioral psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, pediatric nutrition and social work.
